Re-Parenting
If we felt rejected, abandoned, controlled, criticized, or betrayed…
…As a child or young adult, while our nervous system and brain were developing, then when we grow up, we project those experiences onto others.
And we learn to do it to ourselves as well.
We believe that those things happened to us because we did something wrong; we weren’t perfect.
So we try to be perfect and do things the “right” way.
We need to learn to access our Inner Adult who can Re-Parent the Inner Child.
We can learn to do this using Internal Family Systems therapy.
